RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 13, 2014—
The news coming out of Ruidoso Downs Racetrack & Casino the day prior to the first day of the trials from the $2.6 G1 American Futurity is that the 2014 G1 Rainbow Futurity winner, Trendi, will be scratched out of her trial race due to an unsoundness issue that has hampered this Stoli filly since her win the G1 Rainbow Futurity.

The Wes Giles-trainee was entered into the trial races for the All American Futurity and drew into race 2 on the first day of trials on Thursday August 14, 2014, but according to both the trainer and owner William "Ed" Smith, the G1 winner will be scratched in hopes of waiting for future engagements in the coming months.

"She is just such a nice filly and as much as we would want to run her in the trials to get to the All American, the right thing to do is to give her time," said owner Ed Smith. "She is paid up in futurities in California later in the year, and other futurities around that time, and we just hope that she gets over her issues and is ready when the time comes around for those races."

Trendi shocked the Quarter Horse racing world to win the G1 Rainbow Futurity at odds of 44/1 under jockey Larry Gamez. Trendi is by Stoli, out of a Runaway Winner mare named Veva Jean. She is a full-sister to G1 All American Futurity, and G1 Rainbow Futurity winner Stolis Winner, who at one time was the all-time winning racing Quarter Horse in history with earnings of $2,235,161.
