Louisiana Fast Dash (Hip 188) brought a top bid of $130,000 in today's opening session of the 2014 LQHBA Yearling Sale in Kinder, Louisiana.

Sale Up, LQHBA Enjoys Increases in Average and Median in Opening Session

KINDER, LA—AUGUST 8, 2014—Bolstered by a pair of six-figure yearlings on day 1 the 2014 LQHBA Yearling Sale got off to great start in Kinder on Friday with major increases on both average and median compared to last year.

On 193 head selling from the 252 offered in the sales first session, consignors enjoyed a 20% increase in the average from $10,383 last year to $12,504 today. The median rose by 21% from $6,200 in 2013 to $7,500 in 2014. Friday gross receipts on horses sold came to $2,413,200.

"We had a great offering of yearlings today," LQHBA Executive Director said following the sale's opening session. "We saw a number of new buyers at the sale for the first time and I think it shows in the today's numbers. We are looking forward to another strong day tomorrow," he added.

TM Ranch purchased the two high-selling yearlings on day one from Jumonville Farms. Hip 188 Louisiana Fast Dash, a Heza Fast Dash colt from the Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana, was the day's top seller at $130,000. Hip 106, Half Time Blues sold for $102,000. The Jess Louisiana Blue filly is a half-sister to stakes winner Political Option, Sizzlin Cartel and Louisiana Blue Dream.

TM Ranch was the leading buyer on day 1 with five purchases for $372,000. Talmadge Green bought three yearlings for a $115,700 gross and Evaristo Villarreal paid $72,000 for two yearlings.

Jumonville Farms was the sale's leading consignor in the first session with four yearlings totaling $283,300. J & B Racing had six head for $200,200 and Bielau Oaks had eight yearlings total $127,600.

First crop sale-sire American Runaway was the leading sale sire on day one (by average with two or more sold), with two yearlings averaging $37,500. Leading sire Heza Fast Dash had 10 yearlings average $32,420, Fly Jess Fly had three average $23,333 and leading sire Jess Louisiana Blue saw nine yearlings average $22,944.
