North Dakota Hosts Racing Free Race, North Dakota Horse Park Celebrates With A Big Weekend

Q-RACING JOURNAL—JULY 25, 2014—This weekend the North Dakota Horse Park will host a number of special events, including a special Racing Free race on Sunday.

The Andreini & Company Feature Racing Free Quarter Horse Allowance is open to horses 3-years-old and older that are enrolled in the Racing Free program.

Racing Free is a horseman organization that supports the elimination of performance-enhancing medication use. The program offers a positive statement on supporting the safety of horses and riders and the integrity of the sport.

Racing Free also rewards members by offering cash incentives for member horses who race and win while “racing free”. This will be on full display during the $5,500 Andreini & Company Feature Racing Free Quarter Horse Allowance. Six horses will contest the 400-yard dash on Sunday at the North Dakota Horse Park.

Among them is 37-race veteran Sweet Easy Cash. Owned by Dennis Halvorson of Dunseith, North Dakota, the 6-year-old gelding is a stakes-placed runner with earnings of $33,134 and a career-high speed index of 112.

Also contesting the race is Donald Dolphus Jr.’s JA Gols Fancy Man, who two starts ago won the Chippewa Downs Bonus Challenge and has career earnings of $23,498.

The winner of the race will also earn a $1,000 bonus and a trophy blanket to celebrate the victory.
