GUTHRIE, OK—AUGUST 5, 2020—Known best for its roster of top Quarter Horse race-bred stallions, the Lazy E Ranch will now be the home of barrel racing's hottest young leading sire, Epic Leader.

Owned by Schiller Ranch LLC, Epic Leader ranked No. 1 by average earnings among all futurity sires in 2019 and is the sire of that year's No. 1 Leading Futurity horse, Epic Guy.

Lazy E Ranch manager Floyd "Butch" Wise commented, "We are extremely delighted that Schiller Ranch decided to stand their phenomenal young stallion, Epic Leader, at Lazy E Ranch beginning in 2021. 'Epic' is a grand individual who passes his exceptional symmetry and abilities to his offspring.

"He is certainly establishing himself as a sire with which to be reckoned across the Quarter Horse world," he said. "To date, his siring accomplishments are nothing short of astonishing. He's recently surpassed $1 million in earnings and is the youngest barrel sire ever to do so."

From only 19 futurity horses and just 29 total performers in 2019, Epic Leader led all barrel futurity sires by average earnings. Epic Guy, his leading earner, was named No. 1 Futurity Horse in 2019 and has accumulated over $350,000 in lifetime earnings. He was named 2019 BFA Futurity World Champion and BFA Year End Champion, and claimed championships at the OKC Futurity and Ardmore Futurity, among others.

Kristi Schiller, of Schiller Ranch said, "It is an honor to have Epic Leader standing at the Lazy E Ranch. Without question, Lazy E is considered one of the pillars of Quarter Horse heritage. Their state-of-the-art breeding operation involves a team of experts devoted to helping you create your Epic tale.”

“Personally, it is a dream come true for me to see Epic Leader featured among the likes of All American Futurity winners, world champion sires, and legends that truly need no introduction. My heart swelled with pride when Butch Wise told me that Epic would inherit the stall of one of the world's greatest leading sires, Pyc Paint Your Wagon. That moment I knew that Epic was in his ‘forever home’. Epic is one of the most personable horses and leaves a lasting impression on everyone he encounters. His God-given talent, demeanor, intellect, and athleticism are apparent in his offspring. Epic Leader is forging a legendary path not only in the U.S. but also in Brazil, Australia, and Canada. I take great pride knowing that Epic Leader is a forefather of great things to come for the Quarter Horse industry."

"Lazy E Arena is the host to many of the largest premier timed events in America. It was natural to have Epic Leader standing here for everyone to appreciate. We look forward to watching him continue to set new siring standards," Wise continued.

Epic Leader isn't the first arena performer to stand at Lazy E Ranch. That honor goes to legendary AQHA world champion Zan Parr Jack, sire of two-time world champion Bar J Jackie and broodmare sire of AQHA Superhorse Popular Resortfigure. Epic Leader joins fellow leading barrel sire Tres Seis who has barrel progeny earnings of more than $1.6 million. The Lazy E stallion barn is also home to Corona Cartel, who, besides being AQHA's No. 2 all-time leading sire of money earners on the track, is becoming a powerful barrel sire as well. His daughter Rosas Cantina CC ($260,000) was the Calgary Stampede champion in 2019.

Bred for greatness from his conception by leading trainer Kassie Mowry and Karma Loftin, Epic Leader is by BFA World Champion Confederate Leader out of the great Firewater Fiesta ($850K+ LTE), barrel futurity, sweepstakes, and NFR world champion daughter of the legendary Firewater Flit.

Under Mowry’s guidance, Epic Leader won more than $170,000 during his illustrious career. He was the No. 1 Money Earning Futurity Stallion of 2012. His titles include WPRA World Finals Derby Champion, WPRA World Finals Second Round Derby Champion, Old PacWest Slot Race Champion, BBR Finals Slot Futurity Champion, Ecurie 5-55 Drummond Futurity Champion, LG Pro Classic Slot Race Reserve Champion and 2011 BFA World Championship Second Round Juvenile Champion.

With consideration for the current economic climate, Epic Leader will remain at $4,500.

With advanced facilities and armed with the most current veterinary technology, Lazy E Ranch offers breeders every option to ensure their mare's reproductive success. The Lazy E Ranch will begin issuing breeding contracts for the 2021 season this October.
