Lazy E Announces Innovative $125,000 Kvn Corona Bonus

GUTHRIE, OK—DECEMBER 28, 2018—An innovative incentive program created by leading owner and breeder Keith Nellesen gives individuals participating in the first crop sired by Champion Kvn Corona chance to win a portion of the $125,000 Kvn Corona Bonus.

In announcing the program on 2017 Champion Two-Year-Old Colt Kvn Corona SI-95, $868,077, Nellesen said, "We want to give those involved with the first crop by Kvn Corona awards for their support."

Here’s the unique deal for ALL 2-year-olds of 2022 sired by KVN Corona:

  • $50,000 will be paid to the breeder of ANY 2-year-old sired by Kvn Corona that wins ANY American Quarter Horse Association approved Grade I stakes race in 2022.

  • $50,000 will be paid to the owner of ANY 2-year-old sired by Kvn Corona that wins ANY American Quarter Horse Association approved Grade I stakes race in 2022.

  • $25,000 will be paid to the trainer of ANY 2-year-old sired by Kvn Corona that wins ANY American Quarter Horse Association approved Grade I stakes race in 2022.

"In 2018 there were 9 Grade I two year-old races approved by the AQHA for which his first runners would have been eligible, those races are spread from early April through mid-December and in 2018 the smallest purse of any of those races was $750,000" noted Nellesen.

"Every owner, breeder and trainer in the business aspires to win one of these Grade I 2-year-old races and we look forward to adding to and rewarding every 2-year-old Grade 1 winner’s connections. Also, it is our sincere hope that we have 9 of these $125,000 bonuses to pay in 2022" Nellesen said.

One of only six horses in the 60-year history of Los Alamitos to win 9 or more consecutive races, Kvn Corona was the only stallion in that group. He is also the only one of those six that was undefeated in six outs as a two-year-old at Los Alamitos.

Kvn Corona won the Ed Burke Million G1 and PCQHRA Breeders Futurity G2 then came back at three to win the El Primero Del Ano Derby G3 and place in the $925,100 Los Alamitos Super Derby G1 and run in the finals of the $760,000 Ruidoso Derby G1.

A son of No. 1 all-time living sire Corona Cartel, Kvn Corona is a full brother to Grade I winner Big Lew $838,378. Their dam is the Grade I winner Executive Looks.

"This is a tremendous individual with a race record to match," said Lazy E Ranch’s Butch Wise. "His sire, Corona Cartel currently has 5 sons on the Top 25 Sires list for 2018 and his sons are 1-2 on the Leading Freshman Sire List of 2018. His dam is a Grade I winner and a multiple Grade I producer. This Kvn Corona Bonus is truly an exciting financial innovation for all those involved with his first crop of runners"

The first year fee on Kvn Corona is $5,000. Cooled semen is available.
