VINTON, LA—OCTOBER 14, 2016—Grade 2 stakes winner Ivan James SI 104 has will kick off stallion career in 2017 at Delta Equine Center, near Vinton, Louisiana. The son of Ivory James will stand for a fee of $2,500, with consideration.
Owned-and bred by Jorge Meraz, Ivan James won the Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity at two and the Firecracker Derby in his last start. He has won or placed in seven of eight career starts and earned $395,817. Ivan James was third in the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity and a finalist in the Grade 3 Sam Houston Derby.
Prior to retiring to stud, the 3-year-old is expected to make his next start in the trials for the $100,000-added Evangeline Derby in December at Evangeline Downs.
Ivory James has sired 32 stakes winners and earners of more than $11.3 million in only six crops to race. Among his other top performers are Algorithmic SI 99 (4 wins, $319,408, 2nd Texas Classic Futurity-G1), etc.), Dm Strait Up SI 102 (3 wins, $190,370, 2nd Remington Park Juvenile, etc.), First Prize Dive SI 110 (4 wins, $153,926 Black Gold Futurity Championship-RG3), John The Banker SI 101 (6 wins, $143,208, 2nd Dash For Cash Futurity-G1, etc.), Rapid Ivory SI 98 (4 win $140,023, Heartland Futurity, etc.), etc.
Ivan James dam is the RG1 winning daughter of Dashin Bye—First Dashin Bye SI 109 ($449,170). A nine-time winner, First Dashin Bye set a new track record for 330 yards in :16.524 seconds at Delta Downs. She is the dam of 7 ROM, five stakes horses including Grade 2 winner Ivan James SI 104 (see above), stakes winner First Dashin Perry SI 109 ($92,928), Grade 3 winner The Golden Bowl SI 97 ($40,702 to 4, 2016), G3-placed Miss Aguilar SI 93 ($90,022) and stakes-placed Spartocus SI 98 ($40,298), etc.
