Pedigree Analysis A Super Sonic Boom: Lets Make Some Noise In New Mexico

Q-RACING JOURNAL—MAY 17, 2016—A super sonic boom makes quite a bit of noise – and so he did, A Super Sonic Boom, that is, in Sunday's $101,680 New Mexico Breeders' Futurity (RG2) at SunRay Park.

The gray colt broke his maiden in his third career start and, with the win, boosted his earnings to $61,148 for owner/breeder Hubaldo Solis, who has also bred such premier horses as Osbaldo ($408,989).

A Super Sonic Boom is by freshman sire Big Daddy Cartel and out of the Strawflyin Buds mare Strawberryberryfast.

Big Daddy Cartel is a son of leading living sire Corona Cartel and from a rich mare family, being out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Miss Racy Eyes, the $113,195-earning half-sister of champion Miss Racy Jess ($485,113), etc.

The talented colt made only five career starts but, despite that, still earned $121,800; he was fourth in the Rainbow Futurity (G1) and eighth in the All American Futurity (G1).

Now owned by MJ Farms of Veguita, New Mexico, the young sire has already climbed to the top of the freshman sire list, with $183,460 in progeny earnings from only 17 starters.
