VENTRESS, LA—APRIL 30, 2016—First crop sire Sizzlin Cartel SI 105 got his first stakes winner Saturday night when Sizzlin Stewart scored a three-quarter length win in the $88,935 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs.
Trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the gelding for owner P and D Racing. With a 2-for-2 record, Sizzlin Stewart earned $44,468 to bring his bankroll to $48,668. The colt covered the 330 yards in :17.007 seconds over the sealed racetrack rated good. Stewart Horses Ltd. bred Sizzlin Stewart in Texas from the Rare Form mare Stone Ginger.
Sizzlin Cartel won or placed in 10 of 16 career starts while earning $233,446. He won the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity, was second in the Harrah's Entertainment Futurity(G3), Firecracker Derby and third in the Old South Derby. He was also a finalist in the Cherokee Challenge Stakes, Evangeline Downs Derby-Div. 1 and Evangeline Downs Dash.
The son of Corona For Me is out of G3-placed Apollo(TB) mare In His Dreams ($32,187), a sister to three-time AQHA Racing Champion and Broodmare of the Year Apollitical Time SI 104 ($904,242), dam of world champion and leading third crop sire Apollitical Jess SI 107 ($1,399,832).
A multiple stakes producer, In His Dreams is the dam of 7 ROM including stakes winner and track record setter Political Option SI 109 ($286,180), G2 winner Sizzlin Cartel SI 105 (see above) and All American Juvenile winner Louisiana Blue Dream SI 104 ($102,332), etc. The second dam is the G3-placed/champion producing First Down Dash mare Half Time Attraction SI 96.
