Q-RACING JOURNAL—APRIL 4, 2016—While the sport eagerly awaits the return of reigning champion owners PV Quarter Horse Farms LLC’s homebred champion Jess Good Candy, they sent out another sparkling runner on Saturday in the $54,895 Decketta Stakes (G3) for distaffers at Remington Park.

Candy Cartels Cat earned her first stakes victory by defeating Grade 1 winner Sudden Separation by a nose. The homebred 4-year-old won her fifth race in 12 starts and pushed her earnings to $149,004. Last year, she was third in the Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Derby (RG3) and fourth in both the Heritage Place Derby (G2) and Dash For Cash Derby (G3). On the same weekend, two-time Grade 1 winner and past Pedigree Analysis subject Zoomin Effortlessly did, indeed, zoom effortlessly to earn his third Grade 1 in Remington's Leo Stakes.

Candy Cartels Cat is by Red Storm Cat and out of the Corona Cartel mare Candy Cartel.

Red Storm Cat is an 11-year-old son of Mr Jess Perry owned by The G A Connection of Clark, Wyoming. Bred by Julianna Hawn Holt, he is out of the Dash For Cash mare Tiny Dash Of Cash and won or placed in eight of 12 career starts, including finishing second in the 2007 Texas Classic Futurity (G1), while earning $226,439.

His mother is herself and accomplished Grade 1-placed runner, and he is a brother to the likes of Dash Of Perry ($382,390), Pepper Perry ($113,283) and Sizzling (by Corona Cartel, $147,912). Tiny Dash Of Cash is a three-quarter sister to champion Tiny First Effort ($445,393) and major runnrs Tiny First Down ($317,881) and Crash Thru Traffic ($140,595), as well as major producer First Down Energy (dam of Terrific Energy, etc).
