EDMOND, OK—AUGUST 31, 2015—Volcom, the multiple Grade I winner who has been represented by three finalists in the All American Futurity G1 from only 109 starters, is rejoining the stallion battery at Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Owned by P.K. Thomas of Aledo, Texas, the $430,433 earner began his stud career at Lazy E but stood the last two seasons at AVS Equine in Florida.

A 10-time Grade I finalist who won the El Primero Del Año Derby G1 and the Los Alamitos Winter Championship G1, Volcom has Average Earnings Per Starter of $31,106. His biggest runner is 2014 All American Futurity G1 winner JM Miracle SI-96, $1,446,160, who is the breed’s No. 1 money earner currently in race training.

The leading money earner in Volcom’s first crop was Lethal Volt $277,225, an All American Futurity finalist who earned blacktype in eight races at seven different tracks.

On August 22, Volcom’s two-year-old gelding Lethal Volcom qualified for next Monday’s All American Futurity G1, the richest event in the history of American Quarter Horse racing.

“When P.K. called and said he would like to bring Volcom back to Oklahoma, we were very excited about the possibility of it happening,” said Butch Wise of Lazy E Ranch. “Few horses did what he did on the track, and then to have three qualifiers for the All American from only 109 starters is truly incredible.”

Thomas, who bought the son of First Down Dash from breeder John Andreini and raced him exclusively at Los Alamitos, was quick to praise Dr. Steve Fisch and his team at AVS Equine for the job they did with Volcom the last two years.

“AVS did an outstanding job of managing Volcom,” Thomas said. “He bred a full book of quality mares this year, including the dam of 2014 World Champion JRC Callas First among many others. They have two embryos out of that mare, and they bred several other Grade I winners or producers. We extend our thanks to Dr. Fisch and his staff for the excellent job of caring for Volcom the past two seasons. They have a first class operation.”

“We have mares located in three different states in the Midwest, with our best mares being permanent residents of Lazy E,” said Thomas, who over the years has owned shares in two major sires standing at Lazy E.

Wise said the 2016 breeding fee on Volcom will be announced in early September.
