Group of Young Stallions Get First Stakes Winners

Q-RACING JOURNAL—AUGUST 12, 2015—A group of young sires have all passed the milestone of getting their first stakes winners.

The late champion American Runaway earned his stripe on June 27, when Careless Lightning won the TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity (RG3).

Careless Lightning was bred by Bobby Cox and is owned by Jesse Gibson, and out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Edge. Careless Lightning returned August 8 to win the John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge for his second stakes victory. The gelding has earned $81,219 from five starts to date.
