First Crop Sire First Down Illusion Gets First Stakes Winner

BREAUX BRIDGE, LA—JUNE 7, 2015—Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) winner First Down Illusion SI 98, a first crop sire of 2015, got his first stakes winner Saturday when Rgr First To Fire won the $34,251 UQHRA Ed Giles Futurity at Laurel Brown Track in South Jordan, Utah.

A home bred for David and Ross Hinkins, Rgr First To Fire completed the 350 yards in :17.765 seconds to pick up the winner's purse of $11,988. It was the second straight win for the Utah-bred filly out of Heart Fire by Lanes Leinster. Alvaro Torres trains Rgr First To Fire who also a finalist in the $22,833 South Valley Futurity last month. Abel Ramirez had the riding assignment.

From a limited number of starters in his first crop to race, First Down Illusion has sired Rgr First To Fire (winner, $13,706, UQHRA Ed Giles Futurity), Msmfirstdownparty (Winner, $17,260), Rgr Secret Illusion ($5,240, Beehive Futurity finalist), Connors Illusion ($2,790), Rgr Firstdown Blake ($2,006, South Valley Futurity finalist), etc.

Owned by David and Ross Hinkins, First Down Illusion won or placed nine times to 3 and earned $500,547. He won the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1), California Breeders' Freshman Stakes and was third in the PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity(G1).
