NORMAN, OK—MAY 23, 2015—Hes Relentless, the $616,380 earning track record setter that was the American Quarter Horse Association’s Champion Three-Year-Old Colt of 2015, has been retired and will enter stud in 2016 at Bob Moore Farms in Norman, Oklahoma.

The deal came together on Friday at Ruidoso Downs when Bob Moore Farms purchased an interest in Hes Relentless, joining in a partnership with owners Tom Maher, Bill Maher, R.D. Hubbard and Johnny Cope.

Frank Merrill, general manager of Bob Moore Farms, broke the news to TRACK Magazine on Friday during the first day of trials for the $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity G1.

“Bob Moore Farms has been interested in this horse since we first saw him more than two years ago,” Merrill said.

“The men are good businessmen and tough traders,” Merrill added. “We have been trying to get this horse locked up for two years. He is a great horse and Bob Moore Farms is proud to be partners on this horse who has a tremendous future.”

The No. 2 money earner sired by Champion and leading Sire One Famous Eagle $1.4 million, Hes Relentless is out of the multiple stakes producing Strawfly Special mare This Dreams Flying. His second dam is the Champion runner and two-time Champion producer Dashing Phoebe $610,000, who also produced All American Futurity G1 winner and Champion Heartswideopen $1.9 million.

One of the few horses in AQHA history to ever make the finals of four races with a purse of $1 million or more, Hes Relentless had 8 wins, 3 seconds, 2 thirds and 1 fourth in 15 outs at two and three while running in such races as the $2.6 million All American Futurity G1; $1,075,260 Heritage Place Futurity G1; $1,048,682 Rainbow Derby G1 and $1 million Texas Classic Futurity G1. He set the 350-yard Remington Park track record of :16.982 in his first out of 2014.

An out-of-training injury (he became cast in his stall) as trainer Jason Olmstead was preparing Hes Relentless for a 2015 campaign led to the early retirement of the horse.

“Very unfortunately, he developed a staph infection during treatment for a tendon injury that occurred when he was cast in his stall. He is perfectly okay today, but he has missed so much training that everyone in the partnership agreed that it was time to retire him.

At Bob Moore Farms, Hes Relentless will join Champion and leading sire FDD Dynasty, Champion sire Furyofthewind and the young Grade I winner High Rate Of Return.

Established some seven decades ago by the late AQHA Hall of Fame member Bob Moore, Bob Moore Farms has been home to such horses as World Champion Mr Jet Moore, who in 1972 won the first Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos. The farm has been home to other such horses as leading sire Shazoom; leading sire and Champion Rare Form; Prissy Gold Digger and Champion Dashing Perfection.

With the investment this week in Hes Relentless, the Moore family reaffirmed its commitment to American Quarter Horse racing.

Merrill said that Hes Relentless will not be syndicated at this time and that the 2016 breeding fee will be announced in the next few weeks.
