Sumokeonthewater Posts Fastest Time In The First Trial And The Time Held Throughout

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 20, 2019—Last year’s leading trainer Josue Ponce and leading jockey Jesse Levario teamed with Ruse Ranch LLC’s Sumokeonthewater to earn the fastest qualifying time in the $204,600 Dash For Cash Derby(G2) trials tonight and they did it in the first of the seven trials.

Sumokeonthewater, an Arkansas-bred gelding by FDD Dynasty out of Sumokin by County Chicks Man, broke from the far outside post demolishing the field by 3-¼ lengths, clocking the 440-yards in :21.691 seconds on a fast track, and with a 16 mph headwind.

Ruse Ranch LLC owns the gray gelding who has compiled a record (12) 3-5-2 and banked $54,204. He was second in the First Down Dash Stakes at Ruidoso Downs in his last start.

Ponce and Levario also teamed to qualify two others in the top 10, Psychopath and Fm Im A Zatanaz Too.

Eysa Jess Jumpn, probably to the top 3-year-old filly in the nation, cruised to her seventh consecutive win in the fourth trial under jockey Pedro Echeverria to get the second fastest clocking of :21.797 seconds. Saddled by trainer Fructuoso Huitron, the daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash won by two lengths.

Jose Estrada Quarter Horses own the Louisiana-bred filly who has won 11 of 14 career starts and earned nearly $675,000. She has already won the Sam Houston Derby(G3) and the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby(RG2) this season.

Huitron also saddled fifth fastest qualifier Im For Real.

The Dash for Cash Futurity trials are tomorrow, Saturday, September 21. Gates open at 5 p.m. First race post time is 6:05 p.m. First trial is race 4 with post time of 7:29 p.m.
