Black Shadow Wins Friday Quarter Horse Feature At The Downs

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—JULY 12, 2019—Fabricio Castillo’s Black Shadow, a California-bred 5-year-old daughter of One Sweet Jess, won Friday’s $26,200 Quarter Horse feature race for fillies and mares at Albuquerque Downs.

Ridden by Paul Nieto for trainer Jesus Carrete and sent to post at odds of 8-1, Black Shadow went 400 yards in :19.795. The mare earned $15,720 from her fifth win in 18 starts

Black Shadow was bred by Gustavo de la Torre, and she sold for $8,000 at the 2015 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. Raced in New Mexico and Oklahoma, she has earned $89,167.

Coronas Dashin Injun, the 5-2 favorite,and Miss Freigttrain Z finished in a dead heat for second, a nose behind Black Shadow.

Keep It Classy, Pitchin Woo, Tempting Love, Orqidea, and Princess Merida completed the official order of finish.
