Walkin In Fashion Draws Away To Set Fastest Time in Speedhorse Futurity Trials

TULSA, OK—JULY 12, 2019—In just his second career start Walkin In Fashion drew away to win the seventh of eight trials for the Speedhorse Futurity (G3), Friday night at Fair Meadows, to win by 1-˝ lengths while setting the top qualifying time for owner/breeder Francisco Javier Garza.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from 57 2-year-olds who competed in the 350 yard trial races, will return to the Fair Meadows at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 27th to vie winner's share of the $188,700 purse. Ridden by jockey Damian Martinez, Walkin In Fashion completed the 350 yards in :17.509 seconds, a 98 speed index, to set the top qualifying time. The son of multiple stakes sire Dominyun broke his maiden for trainer Bobby Martinez in his first career start March 2 at Louisiana Downs.

Garza bred the 2-for-2 winner in Texas from the Walk Thru Fire mare Fashion Report. He has earned $5,412. Garza also got the seventh fastest qualifier Beaus Blood, a son of leading first-crop sire Apollitical Blood. The colt was one of three Speedhorse Futurity finalists for trainer R.L. Rick Robinson.

Getting his second win in as many starts was Three Blue Coronas, a Louisiana-bred son of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue, owned by Justin Lee Robinson and trained by the aforementioned Rick Robinson. Ridden by jockey Andrew Samaniego, Three Blue Coronas bumped at the start before drawing off to a 1-˝ length win and the second fastest time of :17.597 seconds, a 97 speed index.

Nancy McCoy bred the bay colt from the Strawfly Special mare Corona Three. Three Blue Coronas broke his maiden at Fair Meadows on June 22.

Robinson third qualifier was Tempted Seis, a daughter of champion sire Tempting Dash, who won the final trial to get the eighth fastest time of :17.756, a 91 speed index.
