Half-Siblings Atomic Blondie and Big Hoss Rollin Run 1-2 in Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity

EDMONTON, ALB—JULY 12, 2019—Atomic Blondie, a 4-year-old daughter of Thoroughbred sire Birdzilla, defeated her half-brother Big Hoss Rollin by half-a-length Thursday to get her first career stakes win in the $8,945(US) Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity at Century Mile Racetrack.

Ridden by jockey Carl Hebert, the gray filly brushed early but gave her best late while completing the 330 yards in :17.106 seconds, a 95 speed index into a 15 mph crosswind over a "good" racing surface.

Deanne Davies owns-and-trains Atomic Blondie who has compiled (20) 2-2-6 record and banked $4,741(US) today to bring her bankroll total to $24,590. Sazwan Speed Horses bred Atomic Blondie from the Dashing Val mare Sables Val.

Runner-up, Big Hoss Rollin, also owned-and-trained by Davies, earned $2,326(US) for his effort. The 7-year-old stakes winning son of Zillas Spin Doctor was ridden by jockey Jose Rocha. Big Hoss Rollin is also out of Sables Val and was bred by Sazwan Speed Horses.

Wesley T. Oulton's 6-year-old homebred Ima Running First finished a nose back in third to earn $1,073(US). Also trained by Oulton, the stakes winning son of leading Canadian sire First Timber is out of Ima Jess A Streaker by Streakin La Jolla. Adrian Gonzalez has the riding call aboard the $32,378 earner.

Canadian Timber, Knotty Knita and O Shiver Me Timbers completed the field.
