Valentina Relentless Fastest Qualifier to Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs

Valentina Relentless Fastest Qualifier to Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs

OGDEN, UT—MAY 18, 2019—Seven trials for the Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs took place over a sloppy track on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon. The fifth trial and 11th race of the day produced the fastest overall qualifier Valentina Relentless, whose impressive 3-length win ended with a final time of 17.045 and 97 speed index.

The $80,000-estimated 330-yard final is scheduled for June 1.

Valentina Relentless and jockey Alan Miramontes broke sharply and led the field from gate to wire. Kenia Pinela Marioni owns and trains the 2-year-old daughter of Hes Relentless. She was bred in California by Buddy Albin, out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Ba Little Mini.

Valentina Relentless is already a stakes winner; she won the $51,448 Golden Spike Futurity in her last out. She debuted in the trial for the Golden Spike and finished second, bringing her career record to two wins and one second in three starts with earnings of $21,378.

The winner of the seventh and final trial, Pollitical Fairytale, posted the second fastest overall time of 17.047. Pollitical Fairytale, with Jesus Valenzuela aboard, led throughout the trial and earned a 97 speed index.

Pollitical Fairytale is a 2-year-old son of Apollitical Jess, owned by Jim Nebeker and trained by Riley Moosman. He was bred in Utah by Blaine Bateman, out of the Corona Cartel mare Just a Fairytale. He debuted at Weber and placed second in his trial for the Golden Spike but did not qualify for the final.

Third fastest qualifier Vino Bello won the fourth trial with a time of 17.190 and a speed index of 92. Vino Bello and jockey Alex Carillo led early and won by a length in the filly’s career debut.

Vino Bello was bred in California by Tyler Ranch, LLC. A daughter of Favorite Cartel, she is out of the TR Dasher mare Napa Valley Girl, a multiple allowance winner at Los Alamitos. Vino Bello is a half-sister to stakes winner Captain Mazurk.

Vino Bello is owned by BNB Racing, Inc. and trained by Ricardo Castillo.
