Tf Shez Jess Dashin Sets New Track Record In The Lassie Futurity at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—MAY 17, 2019—Delta Downs hosted the $339,931 Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2) on Friday night and the race produced a new track record by Down South Racing, LLC’s Tf Shez Jess Dashin, who stopped the timer in :16.174 seconds for 330 yards under jockey Everardo Rodriguez. The clocking equaled a speed index of 113 and was accomplished over a fast track.

After breaking well in a field of nine for the Lassie, Tf Shez Jess Dashin surged to the lead and began to draw clear. By the time she reached the finish line, the Ned Goutierrez, III trainee was ¾ of a length in front of Fast Dash Hondo Cat, who finished second. Fifeinthefastlanes wound up third, another head behind the top pair.

Tf Shez Jess Dashin has now won three of four career starts. She earned $169,965 for her first stakes victory and now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $232,666.

Bred in Louisiana by Tate Farms, Tf Shez Jess Dashin is a 2-year-old gray filly by Sir Runaway Dash, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Ought to Go Now. She was purchased for $38,000 at the 2018 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Yearling Sale.

Runner-up Fast Dash Hondo Cat put in a solid effort for owner Jeff Pope and trainer Nason Eschete. Rolando Pina rode the daughter of top-ten third-crop sire Ajs Fast Dash from thoroughbred mare Who Dat Hondo Cat by Langfuhr. She recorded a career high 109 speed index.

The $8,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase earned $57,788 for her effort. Bred by William Meaux, Fast Dash Hondo Cat suffered her first loss in three starts this season. She has already banked $71,288 this year.

Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled third-place finisher Lifeinthefastlanes for owners Michael Leblanc and Jason Richards. Under jockey David Alvarez, the daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue put in a late rush to get the show spot, recording a career high 108 speed index.

Wade and Kay Loup, Jr. bred the brown filly from the stakes winning Panther Mountain mare Pantherinthefastlane. The $33,993 third-place payday boosts her earnings total for the year to $41,193.

Sent to the gate at odds of 2-1, Tf Shez Jess Dashin paid $6.60 to win, $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show. Fast Dash Hondo Cat was worth $6.60 to place and $4.20 to show. Lifeinthefastlanes paid $3.80 to show.

Fastest qualifier HH Gailforce finished a neck back in fourth followed by, Shes A Cartel, Ms Diamond Prize, Boobookitty, Blues Fortune and Angel Tough. Fast Prize Jessica was a late scratch after throwing her jockey behind the gate.

Delta Downs will close out its fifth week of racing on Saturday night with another 10-race program that starts at 6:15 pm. There will be two stakes races on the card headed by the $369,405 Louisiana Laddie Futurity and the $50,000 Vinton Stakes.
