AURORA, CO—AUGUST 12, 2018—Walcott, under jockey Mauro Salcedo, finished strong Sunday afternoon while defeating Captain Force by half-a-length in the $65,235 Mile High Derby at Arapahoe Park. Shine Your Wagon was a head back to take third.
Conditioned by trainer Alejandro Chavez, Walcott raced over the 400 yards in :19.909 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index into a 10 mph headwind. It was the third win for the lightly raced son of third-crop sire Tee Cos.

Runner-up Captain Force, a Kentucky-bred son of grade 1 stakes sire Captain Courage, earned $13,047 for second. Hipolito Michel-Valverde saddled the sorrel colt for owner Pedro Andazola.
Jockey Edwuin Lujan rode the Gentry Farms' bred 3-year-old out of the champion First Down Dash mare Deelish. Winner of last year's Black Gold 440 Championship Futurity(RG3), Captain Force has earnings of $126,465.
Also conditioned by Michel-Valverde, third-place finisher Shine Your Wagon races for owner Margarito Montalvo. Roberto Valero rode the multiple stakes-placed son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the First To Shine mare Shine N Shake.
Also third in the Lucille Rowe Derby at Arapahoe last month, Shine Your Wagon earned $7,828 to bring his earnings total to $26,271. Bill and Marsha Drake bred the bay gelding in Colorado.
E S Keepingthedream, Fantastic Minion, Ramble It On, Dg Tempter, Heza Poppin Dynasty and Dee Favorite Girl completed the field. Tf Carters Pick was scratched.
