Teejus Livin Sets Top Mark in Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity Trials

TULSA, OK—JULY 14, 2018—Teejus Living(AP), an Appaloosa son of Quarter Horse stallion Cartel Success, posted the top time from four trial races contested Saturday night at Fair Meadows for the Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity. The 10 fastest qualifiers will return Saturday, July 28th to vie for the winner's' share of $92,200 purse.

Ridden by jockey Roberto Meraz, Jr., Teejus Livin defeated El Fargo by half-a-length in the opening trial to post the top qualifying mark of :17.855 seconds over a sloppy sealed racetrack.

Trainer Carlos Ruiz saddled the Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old to his third win in six starts this season for owner Joy N Holder-Smith. Racing RNS bred the gelding from Boppin Js Fastball (AP) by Whirling Fastball. The dark brown gelding has compiled a (6) 3-1-0 record and banked $22,666 this season.

Tightwire(PT), a son of CRM Livewire owned by Paint Horse Queens drove to a half-length win the third trial to break his maiden and get the second fastest time of :17.886 seconds. James Flores had the riding call for trainer Dee Kenner. Dan and Kaye Jones bred the bay gelding in Texas from the Awesome Chrome mare Biker Babe(PT).
