EDMONTON, CAN—JULY 12, 2018— Poutn And Zoomin, a 2-year-old daughter of Mezoomn, scored a stakes win in her career debut Wednesday by defeating Jb Runaway Special by neck in the $36,399(US) Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park. Shesa Ivory Girl finished half-a-length back to take third.

Ridden by jockey Ricardo Moreno, Poutn And Zoomin took a quick lead then held while covering the 330 yards in :17.601seconds with a 10 mph tailwind. The brown filly picked up $16,376(US) in her first career start.

Trainer William Leech saddled the Alberta home-bred for Pete Schoeler. Schoeler bred Poutn And Zoomin from the Okey Dokey Dale mare Ms Oakie Is Special.

Runner-up Jb Runaway Special races for owner WT Ranch and Mehgan Gayse. Trainer Les Adams was also saddling the Jb Runaway Flame colt in his first career start. James Butterfield bred the bay colt in Alberta from the Oak Tree Special mare Ms Oakie Is Special. Brushed at the start under jockey Alejandro Hernandez, JB Runaway Special just missed while putting in a game effort. He earned $6,194(US).

Hustled from the gate by jockey Blandford Stewart, third-place finisher Shesa Ivory Girl flew late to get the third-place check worth $3,649(US). Another first-time start, Shesa Ivory Girl is owned by Westfield Oil Services and conditioned by trainer Buckey Stockwell. The Alberta-bred daughter of Ivory League is out of Shes My Candy Girl by Strawfly Special.

Miracle Opener, Northfordstreaker, Ulnvmy Shine and Wild Magic Memories completed the field. Caddysgotanattitude and Western Moonshine were both scratched.
