Buble, Such Easy Cash Dominate North Dakota Grassroots Derby Trials

Buble, Such Easy Cash Dominate North Dakota Grassroots Derby Trials

BELCOURT, ND—JUNE 17, 2018—Owner/breeder John Bubel and his sire Such Easy Cash dominated two trials for the North Dakota Grassroots Derby on Sunday at Chippewa Downs.

Longtime owner-breeder Bubel qualified the top two finalists, bred the top three finalists and his sire Such Easy Cash sired the three fastest qualifiers to the 350 yard derby for accredited North Dakota-bred 3-year-olds. The eight fastest will return to Chippewa Downs on July 1st to vie for the winner's portion of a an $8,000-added purse.

Trainer Terry Davis and jockey Evan Herman teamed with Buble owned-and-bred runners to win both of today's (Sunday) derby trials.

In the second trial Miss Vals Easy Cash defeated Sweeter With Cash to get the top qualifying mark of :17.773 seconds, 103 speed index. The sorrel filly drew off to win by 1-¾ lengths.

Out of the Dashing Val mare, Miss Salty Val, Miss Vals Easy Cash won the Northern Plains Futurity at Chippewa Downs last summer. Also a finalist in the North Dakota QHRA Futurity, she has compiled a record of (7) 3-1-1 and banked $14,480.

Davis saddled Bubel's first winner, Jennas Easy Victory, in the opening trial. Evan Herman also rode that filly to an astonishing 4-¼ length win over the 350 yards to capture the second fastest time of :17.893 seconds, a 101 speed index.

Out of the Up To Victory mare Jennas Birthday, Jenas Easy Victory broke her maiden in the today's trials after finishing in the money twice in six starts at 2 and 3.

Such Easy Cash's third qualifier was the aforementioned runner-up Sweeter With Cash who finished second in the fastest trial to get the third fastest clocking of :18.036 seconds, a 94 speed index.

Trainer Leo Herman conditions the lightly raced gelding who is 0-1-1 in four starts to 3. Dennis Halverson owns the chestnut gelding out of Sweeter Then Rime by Major Rime. Jeremy Herman had the riding assignment.

Multiple stakes sire Such Easy Cash, who died a couple of years ago, is a son of former leading sire Dash For Cash and stood many years at Bubel Quarter Horses in Center, North Dakota. John Buble currently stands Corona B, a son of Corona Cartel, and Dashing Jess Perry, a son of Mr Jess Perry, who sired a qualifier to the North Dakota Grassroots Futurity on Saturday (see related story). Such Easy Cash also sired three of the eight qualifiers to the Grassroots Futurity.
