Staubauch Best In South Valley Futurity, Ud Goldenboy Wins Laurel Brown Derby

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—JUNE 16, 2018—In two undercard stakes contested on Saturday at Laurel Brown Racetrack Staubach walked away with the top prize in the $15,070 South Valley Futurity and Ud Goldenboy scored in the Laurel Brown Derby (not black type).

South Valley Futurity

Jere Brinkerhoff and Gabriel Caballo's 2-year-old Staubach showed his class on Saturday by defeating Scooter 777 by three-quarters in the $15,070 South Valley Futurity.

Under jockey Jesus Canales, the son of third-crop sire Texas Icon completed 330 yards in :16.924 seconds to earn a 99 speed index and pickup his second win in three starts.

Also trained by Brinkerhoff, Staubach earned $6,028 for the effort. Ralph and Carolyn Fales bred the bay gelding in Arizona from the Rocky Jones mare Girls Rock.

Runner-up Scooter 777, a son of champion Carters Cartel, races for owner-trainer Sergio Canales. Oscar Cervantes had the riding call aboard the Utah-bred gelding from the First Down Dash mare Yours Mine N Ours. Bred by Carter Dean List, Scooter 777 picked up $3,014 for his effort.

Chasin Harm finished a game third, 1-½ lengths back for owner-trainer Reed Pierson. Also a Utah homebred for Pierson, the son of Hawkinson was ridden by jockey Todd Thomas. Out of the Lanes Leinster mare Yr Brown Lucy, Chasin Harm earned $1,507.

Completing the official order of finish were Jumpin Jeter, Class Black Diamond, Flare Up Baby, Jsgacartellainheels, R Brown Charmer and Party With A Purpose. Misty B Magic was scratched.

Laurel Brown Derby

Multiple stakes winner Ud Goldenboy flew from the gate Saturday, under jockey Uriel Dominguez, to get a neck win over Champion Winner in the $7,500 Laurel Brown Derby (not black type).

Saddled by Uriel Dominguez, Sr., the son of leading third-crop sire Jr Dynasty Mountain completed the 330 yards in :16.842 seconds, a 103 speed index. He picked up $3,375 for first, boosting his bankroll to $14,264.

Uriel Dominguez owns and bred last year's Horse Palace Futurity winner from the Tac It Like A Man mare Bvlgari B.

Jimmie L. Smith's Champion Winner earned $1,875 for his second-place effort under jockey Oscar Cervantes. Tyler Gibbs trains the Chad Richard Utah-bred son of Winners Version from the Separatist mare Champion Ways.

Girl Like, a California-bred daughter of Kiddy Up, owned by Michael Mckell finished ¾'s back under jockey Jesus Canales to take third. Jere Brinkerhoff conditions the bay filly out of Warm My Form by Walk Thru Fire. She earned $1,125.

Completing the field were One Hot Party and Will He Be Quick. Mountain Vista was scratched.

89 & Under All-Breed Allowance

Nv Snowing, under jockey Jesus Canales, was a gate-to-wire winner in Saturday's $13,810 89 & Under All-Breed Allowance at Laurel Brown Racetrack. The lightly raced daughter of We Have A Secret broke her maiden when she defeated No House Rules Here by a half-length. Favorite Wonder finished a neck back in third.

Saddled by trainer Alvaro Torres, Nv Snowing completed the 350 yards in :17.552 seconds to earn a 98 speed index. The daughter of We Have A Secret earned $5,524 for her effort.

Rafael Cuenca owns the Nevada-bred 4-year-old from the Snowbound (TB) mare Tis Snowing.

Runner-up No House Rules Here races for CG Racing LLC and is conditioned by Garth Blattner. Raymundo Torres had the riding call aboard the No Secrets Here 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred. J. Garvin Kelly and Nancy Yearsley bred No House Rules Here from the Mr Jess Perry mare Goddess Artemis. She picked up $2,762 to increase her bankroll to more than $8,000. She was fourth in Gar Blattner / Harold Pence Memorial Derby earlier this year.

Second-fastest qualifier Favorite Wonder just miss getting second and earned $1,381 for her effort. Glade Van Tassell saddled the Favorite Cartel colt for owner/breeder Gary Carmichael. The Utah-bred 3-year-old is out of Gone Not Forgotten by Heza Fast Man. Cordarelton Benn was riding.

Completing the field were Lets Run Away, Easy Ap Bella, Candy Cartels Okay, One Dashin Chamisa V, Perfect First Moon, Ms Secret Dynasty and Movin Bac.
