EDMONTON, AB—JUNE 15, 2018—Cruisinfourabruisin did not disappoint in Friday’s $11,400 Alberta Stallion Stakes at Northlands Park; the heavy favorite closed well and finished nearly a length in front of the rest of the field.

Cruisinfourabruisin, with Alejandro Hernandez aboard, posted a final time of 17.295 and a 83 speed index for the 330 yard final.

Cruisinfourabruisin ($3.30) is trained by Janice Sather, who also bred and owns the son of leading Canadian sire First Timber with Barry Sather. He is out for Royal Evening Snow, by Tagulator.

The 6-year-old gelding is still going strong; this was win number 17 out of 42 career starts. He has $157,701 in lifetime earnings, thanks in large part to wins in the Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity (RG3) at Lethbridge and the Evergreen Park Championship Challenge at Grande Prairie. In 2016 he qualified for the $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos.

The race for second place went to Munckin and jockey Shamaree Muir. Munckin is a 4-year-old son of Special Fly Bye, trained by Buckey Stockwell for owner Weswind Oilfield Services.

Munckin was bred in Alberta by William Leech, out of Cleats Rockette, by Dashing Cleat. He also finished behind Cruisinfourabruisin in the their most recent start, and he has never finished out of the money in Edmonton.

Ima Runnin First and jockey Adrian Gonzalez led briefly before conceding to finish third. The 5-year-old gelding is a triple play for owner, breeder and trainer Weslet Oulton. The son of First Timber is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Ima Jess a Streaker.

Ima Running First won the $28,670 Alberta Stallion Derby, also at Northlands, in 2016.

Completing the field were Knotty Knita, Big Hoss Rollin and Canadian Timber.
