LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 20, 2018— The cavalcade of 2-year-olds continue at Los Alamitos with many talented prospects posting 220-yard morning works at Los Alamitos.

Here’s a brief rundown of some of the top young runners that have lit up the clock over the past few mornings.

THURSDAY, APRIL 5
Jess Flashee (California-bred filly by First Moonflash out of Jess And Molly) posted a :12.4 clocking while outworking the One Dashing Eagle colt Wreckin Ball. Jess Flashee’s second dam is Mollys Cartel, a winner of four races and over $150,000. Mollys Cartel was fifth in the 2009 Ed burke Million Futurity. This is the family of Five Bar Molly, a winner of 12-races and nearly $190,000. Five Bar Molly beat males to win the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity at 400 yards in 2007.

Moonflash Pilot (New Mexico-bred filly by First Moonflash out of Lady Pilot Point) worked evenly with Magic Prize in a time of :12.5. Lady Pilot Point’s dam is Ms Pilot Point, a four-time winner of $73,706. She won the Grade 3 East Distaff Challenge at Delta Downs in 2006. Ms Pilot Point is the dam of Grade 1 All American Futurity winner Mr Piloto.

Magic First Prize (California-bred colt by Fast Prize Cartel out of Magic And Rhythm) worked evenly with Moonflash Pilot in a time of :12.5. Magic First Prize’s sire was unraced due to injury, but the 7-year-old stallion has already been represented by several noted runners including 2017 Grade 1 Golden State Million runner-up Matilda Czech and recent juvenile winner Fast Amanda Rose.

Firey Hot Lips (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire out of Hot Lips Perry) worked evenly with Despite in a time of :12.5. Firey Hot Lips is from the family of Oklahoma derby finalist Hot Lips Perry and Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity finalist Rustys Quickid.

Despite (Oklahoma-bred filly by Apollitical Jess out of Daring Diversion) worked evenly with Firey Hot Lips in :12.5. Her dam is a graded stakes placed runner and her granddam is the graded stakes winner Daring Difference, who earned $329,000 in her six-race career. In 1994, Daring Difference won the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity, ran second in the Remington Park Futurity, and finished eighth in the All American Futurity. This family traces back to AQHA Hall of Fame inductee Do Good (the dam of 1952 champion filly and AQHA Hall of Famer Chicado V and leading sires Three Chicks and Triple Chick).

Bo Jaxon (Idaho-bred gelding by Bodacious Dash out of Feature Miss Fame) stopped the clock in :12.5 while outworking Bos Dream from the outside post. Bo Jaxon’s dam was a finalist in the Idaho Cup Derby and Hadtobenuts Derby. Feature Miss Fame’s dam is Go For Fame, a five-time stakes winner of $122,934. This is the family of recent Los Alamitos 2-year-old winner Fames Prize Stone.

THURSDAY, APRIL 12
Nautical C (Oklahoma-bred gelding by PYC Paint Your Wagon out of Vikes Dashing) Tied for the morning’s bullet :12.3 drill. His dam is Vikes Dashing, who debuted with a win in a trial to the 2009 Ruidoso Futurity. She followed it with an allowance win at Los Alamitos. Her brief seven-race career also included second place finishes in trials to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and Ruidoso Derby.

Powerful Favorite (California-bred gelding by Favorite Cartel out of Remember Me Rose) Purchased for $90,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, this gelding equaled the morning’s bullet work of :12.3. A star on the track with over $820,000 in career earnings, Remember Me Rose is a tremendous producer as well. She’s the dam of 2017 Grade 1 futurity finalists The Revenant, Remember To Dash, and Remember The Rose. She’s also the mother of stakes winner Tessta Rosa and Sam Houston Derby finalist Jabulani.

Fire And Fury (California-bred colt by Walk Thru Fire out of Septacular) Tied for the morning’s fastest drill of :12.3. His dam produced champion 2-year-old filly and Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity winner Separate Fire and local stakes winner Ilikethewayshewalks. Septacular is a half-sister of 1983 Rainbow Futurity winner and 1984 Champion of Champions runner-up Meganette.

Bac In Time (California-bred gelding by Foose out of Running Bac) Purchased for $50,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Bac In Time worked evenly with Lou Dobbs in :12.4. Bac In Time’s dam was a four-time stakes winner at Los Alamitos, a record highlighted by her win in the 2002 Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap over a star-studded field of Mini Rock, Blue Grass Bounce, Dinastia Toll BRZ, and royal Dip. Running Bac is also the dam of 2006 Governor’s Cup Futurity winner Checknbac, two-time derby winner Bac In Front, and $100,000 earner Walkin Bac.

Lou Dobbs (California-bred gelding by Favorite Cartel out of Classic Sassy Chic) Worked evenly with Bac In Time in :12.4. Lou Dobbs was purchased for $55,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Classic Sassy Chic was a six-time stakes winner in her career, a record that included winning the Grade 1 AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship at Lone Star Park. She’s the dam of California Breeders Sprint Stakes winner China Wall, Ivan Ashment Handicap winner Classic Sassy Check, and $94,000 earner De Moss.

Could Be Hotter (California-bred colt by Walk Thru Fire out of Look Her Over) Purchased for $60,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale worked in :12.4 while being partnered with Nautical C. Look Her Over was a stakes winner at 400 and 550 yards and the runner-up in the 2008 Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Maturity behind eventual champion aged mare Stylish Jess BR. Look Her Over is the dam of the Grade 1 stakes winning millionaire He Looks Hot, Grade 1 stakes winner Once Over, two-time stakes winner Take A Look, and five-time winner Look Of A Dasher.
