PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 31, 2017—Fighter Gone Wild dueled Jess A Cowboy to a half-length win in the $17,500 Turf Paradise Quarter Horse Championship Sunday afternoon. Fitz finished three-quarter back in third.
Ridden by jockey Emilio Tapia, Fighter Gone Wild raced over the "classic" Quarter Horse distance of 440 yards in :21.474 seconds to earn a 106-speed index. It was the fourth consecutive win for the 4-year-old son of Fighter On Fire who began his streak at Arapahoe Park in June when he won for a $10,000-tag.
Owned by Orlando Guerrero and trained by Ubaldo Guerrero, Fighter On Fire backed that race up with a win in Arapahoe's American Flyer Stakes before he returned to Turf Paradise to win two more times.

Multiple stakes winner Jess A Cowboy finished a game second for owner/breeder Larry Stark and trainer Matthew Fales. Jorge Bourdieu rode the 5-year-old Dejon gelding from the Canth mare Secret Return. He picked up $3,360 for the effort to push his earnings total past $170,200.
Coming off a win in the AQRA Turf Paradise Derby earlier this month, Fitz drifted out under jockey Joseph Belloc, Jr. to finish third. Rigoberto Guillen trains the royally-bred Mr Jess Perry gelding for owner Yuriana Ramirez. Double Bar S Ranch, LLC bred Fitz in California from the First Down Dash mare Dividends Declared. He earned $1,680.
Specials Gold, Frontera Special, Av Zacharys Call, Dos Tocallos, Kismet and Peaceful Bono completed the field. Volcano was scratched.
