Lotta Blues Man Dominates Town Policy Handicap

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 11, 2017—Under a confident ride by jockey Cesar DeAlba, Lucky Seven Ranch's homebred Lotta Blues Man defeated One Sweet Runner by 1-˝ lengths in the $25,000 Town Policy Handicap Saturday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.

The Grade 1 son of third-crop sire Favorite Cartel completed the 400 yards in :19.746 seconds, a 92-speed index over a fast racecourse.

Trainer Michael Casselman saddled last year's Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner to his seventh career win from 13 starts. Also, second in the Los Alamitos Million Futurity(G1) and third in the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) last season, the $13,750 winners' purse boosted Lotta Blues Man's earnings total to over $906,000.

Out of the First Down Dash mare Lotta Love For Robyn, Lotta Blues Man was second in the Vandys Flash Handicap in June.

J. Francisco Diaz' One Sweet Runner earned $5,625 for second. Lindolfo Diaz trains with Jesus Rios Ayala getting the riding call. The California homebred daughter of leading third-crop sire One Sweet Jess is out of Check Her Running by Check Him Out. He has earned $60,068.

Abigail Kawananakoa's Staggering Stride finished half-a-length back to pick up $3,125 for third. Christopher O'Dell saddled the Mr Jess Perry filly out of Dinastia Toll Brz by Tolltac. Jose Nicasio was aboard the John Andreini California-bred. Third in the La Primera Del Ano Derby(G3) and the Los Alamitos Million Juvenile, Staggering Stride has banked $81,491.

Trippy Royal Jess, G S Wintermeyer, Ajs Anna Smoke, Apollitical Spirit and Youre Gonna Mish Me completed the field.
