GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 16, 2017—The weather was clear and the track was fast for the hopeful contenders in 11 trials vying for a place in the Grade 2, $393,000 Dash for Cash Futurity Final to be run Saturday, September 30 at Lone Star Park.
Damien Martinez rode first time starter Three Bar Cartel in the first 400-yard trial to a final time of :20.056 setting what would be the time to beat for all but the final two races.
It was in the tenth trial when Ja Am I Blue, ridden by Jesse Levario, smoked that time stopping the timer at :19.725. That held for the fastest of all eleven trials, though in the last trial of the night, Cloud Ridge with Mario Delgado aboard slid into the final with the second fastest clocking of the night at :19.886.
