CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 16, 2017—Bully Pulpit, a 2-year-old son of the Paint sire Crm Livewire, defeated Expressions N Snow by a neck Saturday to set the fastest time for the $30,000-added Pot O Gold Futurity(G1) at Will Rogers Downs.
The 10 fastest qualifiers, from four trial races, return to the Claremore, Oklahoma racetrack on Sunday, September 30th to vie for the winners' share of the purse going 350 yards.
Ridden by jockey Cody Smith, Bully Pulpit completed the 350 yards in :17.07 seconds into a 16-mph crosswind to set the top qualifying time. Already a multiple Grade 1 winner, Bully Pulpit has won five of six starts and earned $135,145 this season.
Matt Whitekiller conditions the sorrel gelding for owner's Dan and Kay Jones. Chuck Bowlan bred Bully Pulpit from the Apollo (TB) mare Judys Apollo.
Earlier this season Bully Pulpit won the $104,700 PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity(G1) and the Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Futurity(G1) at Remington Park.
