Bp Painted Valentine Establishes New Track Record at Canterbury Park on Thursday

SHAKOPEE, MN—JUNE 23, 2017—Bp Painted Valentine became the second daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon to get a new track record this week.

Bill Price's Oklahoma homebred Bp Painted Valentine scored a neck win over Lithe in a $17,000 Allowance, for 3-year-olds which have never won two races, on Thursday at Canterbury Park.

Ridden by jockey Jorge Torres, the Stacy Charette-Hill trainee completed the 300 yards in :15.314 seconds, a 108-speed index on a sloppy (sealed) racetrack with a 15-mph tailwind.

The previous record of :15.378 seconds was established on June 11, 2010 by Casanova Corona.

The Oklahoma homebred is out of Bp Mariahs Jp by Mr Jess Perry. Bp Painted Valentine has compiled a (10) 2-4-0 record and earned $29,208.

Runner-up Lithe, a Texas-bred daughter of Ivory James, also broke the old track record by clocking a :15.377 time for the 300 yards. The bay filly, out of Sinuous by Mr Jess Perry, races for owners Debra and David Harsche and trainer Victor Hanson. Bobby D. Cox is the breeder.

On Tuesday (June 20) My Royal Wagon, also a daughter of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, set a new 400-yard track record (see related story) at Indiana Grand in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Pyc Paint Your Wagon and Ivory James are full brothers by leading living sire Corona Cartel out of the blue-hen mare Dashin Follies by Strawfly Special.
