Tdz Fast Dasher Scorches The Track While Winning The Par-A-Dice Stakes At Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—JUNE 23, 2017—Delta Downs hosted the $24,650 Par-A-Dice Stakes on Friday night and the event turned into a runaway for the Kenneth Roberts, Sr. trainee Tdz Fast Dasher, who dominated eight rivals in the 300-yard event under jockey Noe Castaneda .

The property of Tony Doughtie won the race by a widening length over The Ground Game while stopping the clock in 14.996 seconds, just .026 of a second off the track record. The running time equaled a speed index of 106. Tellem Im Pumped finished third, another half-length behind the runner up. Friday’s featured race was contested over a fast track.

The win by Tdz Fast Dasher, a 3-year-old filly, was her fourth in a row and her first in stakes company. Overall, she has won five of nine lifetime starts and earned a total of $35,270. The first-place prize in the Par-A-Dice Stakes was $12,000.

Bred in Oklahoma by her owner, Tdz Fast Dasher is a bay filly by leading sire Heza Fast Dash, out of the Game Patriot mare Jes A Game.

Sent to the gate as the wagering favorite at odds of just over even money, Tdz Fast Dasher paid $4.20 to win, $3.40 to place and $2.60 to show. The Ground Game was worth $7.40 to place and $4.20 to show. Tellem Im Pumped returned $3.80 to show.

The win by Tdz Fast Dasher also gave Kenneth Roberts, Sr. his third winner of the night on Friday. The seven-time leading trainer at Delta Downs now has 51 wins on the meet, only 12 shy of his personal record of 63 wins in a single season, which he accomplished in 2003. The track record for Quarter Horse wins by a trainer in a single season is 68, set by Heath Taylor in 2005.

Saddled by Gary Mason, runner-up The Ground Game races for owner Jose Ortiz. Lina Vanbebber bred the son of Game Patriot from the Especially Rare mare Holy Ground. This the first black-type finish for the 6-year-old. Ridden by Ricardo Hernandez Jr., The Ground Game earned $7,000 to bring his earnings total to $67,325.

Third-place finisher Tellem Im Pumped pocketed $3,850 for his effort. Michael Taylor conditions the RG1-placed 3-year-old son of world champion sire Stoli for owners Ten For Ten LLC. Jim and Natalie Montgomery bred Tellem Im Pumped from the Teller Cartel mare Pump It Teller. Ridden by John Hamilton he has banked $152,625.

Mariachy King, Tf Little Bit Rowdy, Lil Bro Big Streak, Jess Iam First Royal, Less Effortless and Di Maria completed the field. Raramuri Apollo was scratched.

Delta Downs will complete its 10th week of live American Quarter Horse racing on Saturday night with another 10-race program that begins at 6:15 pm CT. Saturday’s featured race is the $50,000 Miss Polly Classic Stakes.
