Dash Quick Perry Gets Stakes Win in Sam Houston on Friday Night

HOUSTON, TX—MAY 13, 2017—Coming off a third-place effort in the Sam Houston Derby (G3) on April 29th, Dash Quick Perry was much the best Friday night when drew off from seven rivals to defeat My Moment Of Fame by 1 ½ lengths in the $15,000 Sam Houston Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park. Grand Illusion finished a head back in third.

Ridden by jockey Francisco Calderon, Dash Quick Perry sailed over the 350 yards in :17.668 seconds, a 92-speed index into a 15-mph headwind.

Trainer Leon Bard saddled the graded-placed son Down N Dash to his fifth career win for owner/breeder Pete Scarmardo. Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Quickid Perry, Dash Quick Perry picked up $9,000 to boost his career mark to $65,754.

My Moment In Fame, a stakes winning 4-year-old son of Jumpn Chic races for owner Holly Hooper and trainer Angel Sanchez. Jose Martinez rode the sorrel gelding from the Relagate(TB) mare Moment Of Epiphany.

Bred by Sarah Huskey, My Moment In Fame used the $3,000 second-place check to bring his earnings to $105,144.

The royally-bred Grand Illusion races for Crown Racing and is trained by champion trainer Judd Kearl. Rodrigo Vallejo rode the Shazoom gelding out of Jess An Illusion by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by Jerry Windham, Grand Illusion earned $1,650 for the third-placed effort.

Sizzlin Mr Perry, Cazzadores, Like A Denali, Dash Don’t Cheat and Dm La Jolla completed the field.
