OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 14, 2017—The hottest barn in the Remington Park stable area this weekend belonged to trainer Eddie Willis. He saddled seven winners over the last two race dates including two qualifiers on Sunday afternoon for the $297,100 Heritage Place Derby with Kiss My Heineken posting the best time.
Owned by Jeff Carter and Justin Massey Kiss My Heineken was ridden by Jimmy Brooks to a rousing two-length win in the fifth of six derby trials. The 3-year-old gelding crossed the 400-yard finish line in :19.919 seconds over a fast track.

Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby(RG3) winner Apollitical Scout kept her 2017 record a perfect 3-for-3 when she posted a neck win over Hold Air Hostage in the second trial.
Ridden by jockey Omar Reyes, the daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess completed the 400 yards in :19.944 seconds to get the second fastest time. Clinton Crawford trains the multiple stakes winner of more than $203,000 for Preston and Karen Cloud. Dan and Louise Jones bred the sorrel filly in Oklahoma from the Corona Cartel mare Swingin Cartel.

The top 10 through six trials qualified for the Grade 2 Heritage Place Derby, part of the June 3 "Mega-Card" finale of the season with total purses that night expected to approach $2.5 million.

Only 12 race dates and three more weekends of activity remain in the 2017 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park. Racing resumes Thursday thru Sunday, May 18-21. The first race on Thursday and Friday, May 18 & 19 is at 6pm. The action on Saturday, May 20 starts earlier than normal at 4pm with the special simulcast of the Preakness Stakes from Pimlico in Baltimore featured at 5:45pm. Sunday, May 21 is Fiesta at Remington Park with the first race at 1:30pm.
