OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 20, 2017—After a sharp start putting her on the lead immediately, Hardtoget never relinquished her advantage in winning Friday’s $19,000 allowance feature by three-quarters of a length. The triumph is her second in a row during the Remington Park season.

Owned by the Bryan, Texas partnership of Justin Robinson and Louis Malechek III, Hardtoget is trained by John Weghorst and was ridden by James Flores. The 4-year-old mare won at 400 yards after scoring in her first attempt of the season at 300 yards. Friday night, she had a clear lead through much of the race before Rock About It managed to gain late to get within a length. Hardtoget crossed the finish in 19.519 seconds over a muddy track.

The Remington Park racing surface was sloppy for the first seven races of the night before being upgraded for the final five events to muddy. Consistent, and sometimes heavy rain, fell at Remington Park for most of the day Friday to cause the off track situation.

Hardtoget was bet at 9-2 odds and paid $11.20 to win, $5.40 to place and $3 to show. Rock About It, the beaten wagering favorite at 5-2 odds, paid $4.80 to place and $3.20 to show. Governor Pete paid $3 to show.

The Friday night win was the third from nine career starts for Hardtoget, a 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred mare by Foose from the Corona Cartel mare Tinys Corona Queen. She picked up $11,238 for the win to increase her lifetime earnings to $28,144.

Saturday night’s 12-race card is worth more than $1.4 million with the $932,500 Remington Park Futurity for eligible 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds leading the way. Also on the program: $305,400 Remington Park Derby; Grade 2, $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial and the $61,800 Laico Bird Stakes. The first race Saturday is at 6pm.

Sunday afternoon racing, featuring the eighth Extreme Racing Day with exotic animal competition interspersed between the American Quarter Horse events. Presented by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, the Extreme Racing Day starts Sunday at 1pm. All times Central.
