CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 21, 2016—Champion Painted Turnpike raced to his 13th career win on Friday when he defeated Light Em Up Corona by 1 ¾ lengths in the $15,000 Don Drake Memorial Stakes at Will Rogers Downs. Imahotchicken finished another length back in third place. .

Ridden by jockey Cody Smith, Painted Turnpike rolled over the 350-yard course with authority in :17.664 seconds to earn a 91-speed index. Matt Whitekiller conditions the homebred son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner/breeder Nolan Pevehouse. The bay colt earned $9,906 for the win.

An APHA Racing Champion last season, Painted Turnpike has compiled a record of (16) 13-3-0 and earned $311,393. His out of the SF Royal Quick Flash mare High Class Turnpike.

Light Em Up Corona races for owner/breeder Lanefun LLC and trainer Dee Keener. The son of Fire And Corona, from the Little Jungle Jet mare Jungle Jane, picked up $3,302 for his effort. Randy Wilson had the riding assignment.

Keener also saddled Imahotchicken to his third place finish for owner Charles Leggett. Shirley Wheeler bred the SF Royal Quick Flash filly in Oklahoma from the Game Patriot mare Game Chicken. Ridden by Jesus Salazar, Imahotchicken earned $1,816.

Mhm Hotwire, Ten Bunny and Wagonette completed the field.
