NEW ORLEANS, LA—AUGUST 27, 2016—Fair Grounds Race Course hosted two stakes for Quarter Horses on Saturday’s race card.
Exquisite Stride Gets Another Stakes Win in Esplanade
Graded stakes winner Exquisite Stride cruised to another stakes victory under jockey Joe Badilla, Jr. when he defeated The Golden Bowl by 1-½ lengths in the $40,000 Esplanade Stakes Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course.
It was the third win this season and seventh over all for the Bruce Bell trainee owned by D & S Racing, LLC. The 4-year-old covered the 350 yards in :17.550 seconds, a 93-speed index into a 4 mph headwind.
Fastest qualifier to the G1 All American Futurity as a 2-year-old, Exquisite Stride is a three-time stakes winner in Louisiana winning the Miss Polly Classic Stakes(G3) on June and taking the Evangeline Downs Derby last fall.
Bred by John Andreini, the son of Carters Cartel is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Tinys Lil Jess. The $18,000 Esplanade winner’s purse boosted his career mark to over $250,000. His owners announced earlier this week that Exquisite Stride will kickoff his stallion career in 2017 at Louisiana Center For Equine Reproduction near Opelousas. His fee has been set at $2,000.
Graded stakes winner The Golden Bowl chased the leader under jockey David Alvarez. Martin Trejo trains the Mr Eye Opener 4-year-old for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. Jorge Meraz bred the colt out of First Dashin Bye, by Dashin Bye, in Texas. The four-time winner picked up $6,000 to boost his earnings to $40,702.
Tf Little Bit Rowdy finished half-a-length back in third for owner Tate Farms and trainer Lanny Keith. John Hamilton rode the Mr Jess Perry colt out of Got A Project by Special Project. Bred by Elliott Clark Sr., Tf Little Bit Rowdy earned $3,300 for the effort.
Rusty Bloom and Firefly Fortune completed the field. Louisiana Legends was scratched.
B and G Fast Dash Rolls In Faubourg St. John Stakes
Oscar Rohne’s B and G Fast Dash cleared the field under jockey Donald Watson while defeating Streak Of Music by 6 ¾ lengths in the $40,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes Saturday night at Fair Grounds Race Course. Game Own finished a nose back in third.

B & Group Investments, Inc. bred the bay in Louisiana from the Gold Regent (TB) mare Rita Regent. He has compiled a (18) 6-1-4 record and the $24,000 winner’s purse boosted his career mark to $140,470. B and G Fast Dash entered the race off a win in the Live Oak Stakes at Delta Downs on July 9th.
Already a stakes winner, Streak Of Music picked up $8,000 for second to bring his earnings total to $111,000. Ray Robbins trains the Miracle Streak 5-year-old for owner Kevin Nobles. Leonard Haven bred Streak Of Music from the thoroughbred mare Wire Me Music, by I’ma Hell Raiser. Damian Martinez was riding.
Third place finisher Game Own races for owner Yaima Grillo and trainer Yoani Abreu. Kenneth Fletcher bred the Game Patriot gelding from the Six Fortunes mare My Own Fortune. Ridden by Juan Marquez, Game On picked up $4,400 to bring his bankroll to $104,602.
Speed Box and Droppin Timber completed the field. Dwaynes First Perry, Fire On The Fly and Jls Book Of Psalms were scratched.
