Red Corona Warrior Gets New Track at Gillespie County Fairground on Saturday

FREDRICKSBURG, TX—AUGUST 27, 2016—Red Corona Warrior set a new track record in the Simulcast Services Stakes on Saturday at the Gillespie County Fairground. The G.C.F.A. hosted two other non black-type stakes on Saturday’s card.

Jl Moyeta won the $14,600 G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Derby final by a nose; and God I Am Handsome was a four-length winning in the $11,500 G.C.F.A All Breed 870 Stakes.

Simulcast Services Stakes

Multiple stakes winner Red Corona Warrior head no trouble under jockey Noe Villatoro when he rolled a 1 ½ length win over Aidens Corazon in the $17,500 Simulcast Services Stakes while setting a new 330 yard track record of :16.311 seconds, a 117 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. Good Luvin held the previous record of :16.486 seconds since August 27, 2011.

Josue Ponce saddled the 4-year-old son of Coronas Fast Dash for owner Almada Racing. Bred in Texas by Terrazas Family, the gelding got his fifth career win and used the $10,500 winner’s purse to boost his career mark to $146,971. Red Corona Warrior is out of the Dashin Is Easy mare Prairie War Princess.

Aidens Corazon battle early under jockey Julio Rodriguez to get second place. Jorge Mendoza trains the Tres Seis mare for himself and Ramon Escamilla. The homebred out of Streakin O Toole, by Jody O Toole, has earned $51,152.

A Kool Secret finished a neck back in third for owner Adame Racing, LLC, Cynthia Cruz and Norma Guerrero. Manuel Roman saddled the No Secrets Here 3-year-old out of A Kool Zoom, by Shazoom. A homebred for Gerrero and Cruz, the sorrel colt picked up $1,750 for the effort to bring his total to $67,963.

First Prize Dive, Jess Fly With Me, Sr Inseperable, Little Man Rockin, Quite Riot and Cashshae completed the field.

G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Derby

Originally scheduled for August 14th, the G.C.F.A. 79 & Under Speed Index Derby was rescheduled for today due to inclement weather. Third fastest qualifier Jl Moyeta got a clean trip under jockey Luis Vivanco to defeat Sunshine Mornin by a nose. Tempting Gold Angel, who was fractious in the gate, got up to finish a length back in the third.

It was the first win four starts for the Sixy Royal King gelding owned by Jose Lopez and conditioned by Adrian Huitron. Jl Moyeta covered the 350 yards in :17.773 seconds to earn a 95-speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Bred in Texas by Abelardo Castro, the sorrel gelding is out of Keep The Glory, by Shazoom. He picked up $5,110 for the win.

Andre Brooks trains Sunshine Mornin, a Missouri bred daughter of FDD Dynasty, for owner Belen Rodriguez. Jose Martinez had the riding assignment and earned $2,300 for second. Burly Jenkins bred the brown filly from the Teller Cartel mare Rita Alto.

Tempting Gold Angel picked up $1,460 for her third place finish. Rodolfo Sanchez trains the daughter of champion Tempting Dash for owner/breeder Jesus Perez. Francisco Calderon rode the filly out of the Shiloh 276 mare Katies Strakinangel.

John Benton, Im A Pirate, Shazooms Glory Peral, Cs Streakin Six and Austyn Blue completed the field. Bella Milagros and Ms Mildred Womack were both scratched.

G.C.F.A. All Breeds 870 Stakes

Under jockey Luis Vivanco, God I A Handsome battled inside earlier then cleared the field in the stretch to defeat Streakin Tenaya by four lengths in the $11,500 G.C.F.A. All Breeds 870 Stakes on Saturday. B G Fireman (TB) finished six lengths back for third.

Abel Morin saddled the Time For A God 5-yaer-old Texas homebred for owner/breeder Shawn Friesenhahn. The $6,900 winner’s purse boosted the gray gelding’s earnings total to $19,566. He is out of the Open Forum (TB) mare Room To Bloom (TB).

Streakin Tenaya earned $2,300 for his second place effort under jockey Pedro Espinosa. Owned-and-trained by Payton Young, the Desiro 4-year-old was bred in Texas by Neil and Bea Allen. He is out of the Lead The Field mare Streakin Delacreme.

The Thoroughbred gelding B G Fireman had a good run on the outside under jockey Eliazar Vera to get third. The Kentucky-bred Keeneland sales graduate races for owner Artemio Martinez and trainer Alonso Neri. Fab Oak Stables bred the son of Zavata form the Allen’s Prospect mare Miss Allen. He earned $1,150 for the effort.

Maddies Rare Corona, Hiya Kid Boogaloo Lou, Smile Disguised and Expect Valentines completed the field.
