RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 30, 2016—Melissa Slayton and Cody Bowling’s Born To B Bad emerged from a line of horses and held off Feature Moonflash to win the $59,400 John Deere Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge (see related story) on Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

Also on the program were the Bobby Don Crenshaw Stakes and the By By JJ Overnight Stakes.

Bobby Don Crenshaw Stakes

In the $20,000 Bobby Dan Crenshaw Memorial over 1,000 yards for thoroughbreds and quarter horses, the quarter horse Kingsbury sprinted to the lead from the outside post position and left no doubt that he was the best horse in the race with a gate-to-wire victory under Francisco Giles.

Owned by Javier Beltran, Tony Sedillo and Tommy Galvez, Kingsbury covered the 1,000 yards in :53.695 to win by three-and-three-quarter lengths over Jess A Hilbily Bone. It was one-and-one-half lengths back to third-place runner First Place.

Kingsbury lived up to his 7-5 favoritism with the convincing victory. The Sedillo-trained gelding by FDD Dynasty has won three of his latest four starts with a second-place run in his prior start.
