Ivory Lady League Gets Up In Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity

EDMONTON, ALB—JULY 29, 2016—Making just her third career start Ivory Lady League was best late under jockey Tyler Walker to catch Reds On Fire by a neck in the $41,269(US) Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park Friday afternoon. Munckin finished a nose back to get third in the blanket finish.

Trainer Kevin Oberholtzer saddled the winner for himself and co-owner Paige Oberholtzer. The filly completed the 330 yards in a quick :16.842 clocking to earn a 99-speed index. The $18,572(US) winner's purse boosted her career mark to more nearly $20,800.

Ralph Denard bred the bay filly by the Ivory James son Ivory League, in Alberta from the Tres Seis mare Rocky Mountain Lady.

Still a maiden after three starts, Reds On Fire fought gamely under jockey Scott Sterr to pickup the second place check of $8,2554(US). Buckey Stockwell trains the son of Sizzlin Red Corona for owner Mark Hranac. A partnership of Vanee, Sakamoto and Edwards bred Reds On Fire in Alberta from the Strawfly Special mare Queens Strawfly. The gelding has an (3) 0-2-1 record.

Stockwell also saddled third place finisher, Munckin, for owner WestWind Oilfield Services. William Leech bred the Special Fly Bye gelding from the Dashing Cleat mare Cleats Rocketette. Rallying late under jockey Jose Rocha, Munckin picked up $4,952(US) for his effort. He is also a maiden from three starts.

Completing the field were Streakinbabe, Taylor Meyer, O First Flash, Bringit Like Benny and Make Er Out.
