Catmandu, Painted Josy Win Fair Meadows Stakes

TULSA, OK—JUNE 25, 2016—Fair Meadows hosted two stakes for Oklahoma-bred Quarter Horses—the $17,500 Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes and the $17,500 Expo Square Stakes—on Saturday's race card.

Catmandu Prevails in Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes
Under jockey Cody Smith, Catmandu finished strong defeating Jess A Profit Taker by one-length in the $17,500 Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes Saturday night. Jc Lovin You finished half-a-length back in third.

The son of multiple stakes sire Red Storm Cat completed the 350 yards in :17.929 seconds into a 10 mph headwind. The $10,284 winner's purse boosted the gelding's career total to $22,114.

Loyd Moreland conditions Catmandu for owners Delbert and Leta Moreland, Jr. Ken and Reba George bred Catmandu from the Strawfly Special mare Takin On A Miracle.

Jess A Profit Taker races for owner Rosa Lujan and trainer Ruben Soto. Edgar Martinez rode the Capo de Capi filly out of Jess For Profit, by Feature Mr Jess. Bred by Rose Lujan and Hector Lujan-Pena the brown filly earned $2,928 for her effort.

Luis Villafranco saddled Jc Lovin You for owner/breeder Jose Cervantes. Mario Delgado rode the Jet Black Patriot filly out of Lovin You, by Teller Cartel. She picked up $1,866.

Kates Wagon, Kates Carter, Eyes Open Return, Barue, Tempting Suspect and Ivoryand Oak completed the field.

Painted Josy Wins Second Expo Square Stakes
Graded stakes winner Painted Josy come two wide off the turn then drove to a 1˝-length win over Blazen Panther in the $17,500 Expo Square Stakes. Droppin Timber finished a nose back in the show position.

Owned by George Carter and trained by Brian Muse, the Pyc Paint Your Wagon gelding completed the 870 yards in :46.059 seconds, a 93 speed index into an 8 mph headwind to win his second straight Expo Square Stakes at Fair Meadows. It was the seventh win in 27 starts for the 6-year-old and the $10,338 winner's purse boosted his career total $165,358.

Bred by Linda Carol Carter, Painted Josy is out of the French Parliament (TB) mare She's Josy (TB). Edgar Martinez was up.

Blazen Panther races for owner/trainer Luz Chavira. Daniel Torres was aboard the Panther Mountain gelding out of Blazen Madie, by Blazen Bryan. B. Cockrell and L. Vanhoozer is the breeder. He earned $3,446 for the effort.

Droppin Timber is a 6-year-old First Timber gelding owned Frank Greenhaw. Orrin Cogburn trains with Randy Wilson getting the riding call. Bred from the Strawfly Special mare Droppindead Gorgeous, the sorrel gelding boosted his career total to over $164,500 after pocketing $1,895 for third.

Mixed Fantasy, Furyinmypants, Eye Can Beatum, Jesstastic and Arbeka Raincloud completed the field.
