Long Lost Buddy Dominates Rocky Mountain Spring QH Classic Futurity, Sparklin Cartel Wins Derby

POCATELLO, ID—MAY 23, 2016—Long Lost Buddy, under jockey Uriel Dominguez, broke his maiden in a big way Sunday when he defeated stablemate A Cartel Hustle by 1¼ lengths in the $23,100 Rocky Mountain Spring QH Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs. Pretty Pretty Pleez finished one-length back in the show position.

Racing for RTM Stables LLC, Ben McKinney and Richard Gardner, Long Lost Buddy went wire-to-wire while completing the 330 yards in a quick:16.982 seconds, a 99 speed index into a 10 mph headwind. The victory was worth $9,240.

Mark Hanson conditions the California-bred son of leading second crop sire Favorite Cartel from the Corona Cartel mare Remember The Cartel. Steve Burns, DVM is the breeder. RTM Stables purchased the half-brother to G2-placed Separate Cartel for $28,000 at Heritage Place September Yearling Sale. This is the family of three-time champion Kool Kue Baby.

Hanson saddled runner-up A Cartel Hustle for owner/breeders RTM Stables, LLC, Larry Chapple and Dick Wasia. Also a son Favorite Cartel, A Cartel Hustle is from the Feature Mr Jess mare Mothers Gift. Nakia Ramirez had the riding assignment to pickup $4,389 for the effort.

Pretty Pretty Pleez, a Texas-bred daughter of Hez Fast As Cash, races for owner CMH Welding, LLC. Ferrall Cunningham saddled the brown filly with Never Marin getting the riding call. Noe and Starla Martinez bred Pretty Pretty Pleez from the Strawfly Special mare Miss Flyin Feature. She earned $2,772.

Bc Moon Flight, Queen Of The Kartel, This Starts The One, Cartels Jubalee, Crown Ponte and Echo Creek Canyon completed the field.

Sparklin Cartel Wins Rocky Mountain Spring QH Classic Derby

Sparklin Cartel dueled Coronas Fast Game Sunday to get a head advantage at the wire in the $9,550 Rocky Mountain Spring QH Classic Derby (not black type). Denali Deception finished 2¼ lengths off the leaders in third.

Ridden by Raymundo Torres, Sprarklin Cartel covered the 350 yards in :17.846 seconds, a 95-speed index into a 10 mph headwind. The $3,820 winners' purse boosted his career earnings mark to $11,032.

Garth Blattner conditions the son of leading second crop sire The Louisiana Cartel for owner/breeders Darla and Les Barlow. An Idaho-bred from the First Wrangler mare Sing Of Price, Sparklin Cartel has compiled a (6) 2-1-0 record.

Multiple stakes-placed Coronas Fast Game earned $1,814 for finishing second. Mark Hanson saddled the son of Coronas Fast Dash out of Game Snowlady, by Game Patriot. Bred in Louisiana by Bobby D. Cox, Coronas Fast Game races for owners RTM Stables, LLC and Ben McKinney. He has earned $61,072.

Tyson Lusk was aboard third place finisher Denali Deception for owner Brooke Black and trainer Mike D. Taylor. Charles Robinson bred the Teller Cartel filly in Oklahoma from the Officer (TB) mare Denali Glitter (TB). Making only her third career start, the sorrel filly earned $1,146 for her effort.

Istolit, Tdm Big Shooter, First Black Knight, Specklebodaciouspat, Whata Doll Bc and Run N Fire completed the field.
