Political Scorpion Wins Thursday Remington Park Feature

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 28, 2016—After two improving races this season, Political Scorpion found the front in Thursday’s $24,950 allowance feature and held on to gain victory by a neck over Famous War Eagle.

Owned by Jahree Standridge of Coalgate, Okla. and trained by Luis Villafranco, Political Scorpion was ridden by Mario Delgado. After a good start, the 3-year-old filly moved for the lead and opened up over her nine rivals. Famous War Eagle rallied on the outside to make it closer at the finish but ran out of real estate. Aventador was another half-length behind in third.

Political Scorpion handled 350 yards over a fast track in :17.72 seconds. Away at 4-1 odds in the betting, Political Scorpion paid $10.20 to win, $6 to place and $3.40 to show. Famous War Eagle was the 3-1 wagering favorite and paid $5 to place and $3.20 to show. Aventador returned $3 to show.

The win is the fourth from 11 career starts for Political Scorpion and it was her first lifetime win at Remington Park in five attempts. An Oklahoma-bred by Apollitical Jess from the Strawfly Special mare Sting Scorpion Sting, Political Scorpion made $15,140 to run her total bankroll to $69,004.
