Eagle On The Fly Rallies In Lubbock Stakes

Eagle On The Fly Rallies In Lubbock Stakes

HOOBS, NM—OCTOBER 3, 2015—Eagle ON The Fly rallied down the stretch to overtake Alis Jumpn and win the $55,360 Lubbock Stakes by half-a-length Saturday afternoon at Zia Park. Kateillac finished a nose back in third.

Ridden by jockey Larry Gamez Eagle On Fly covered the 400 yards in :19.344 seconds with a 10 mph tailwind to earn a 97-speed index. The $33,000 Lubbock winner's purse boosted the stakes winner's earnings total to $204,964.

Trainer Umberto Belloc saddled the One Famous Eagle 3-year-old in his first start against older horses for owner Martin C. Ybarra, Jr. It was the seventh career win in 13 outs for the Texas-bred. Christine Husdson bred Eagle On The Fly from the Strawfly Special mare Ladys Heart Of Gold.

Multiple graded stakes winner Alis Jumpn had to settle for the $12,100 runner-up check, which brought the daughter of Jumpn's career total to over $243,000. Adam Tapia conditions the 5-year-old for owner Eloy Humberto Pena. Also a Texas-bred, Don Apadaca bred the sorrel from the First On The Red mare Gloria In Red. Hector Aldrete had the riding call. Alis Jumpn entered the race off a win in the Balloon City Stakes at Albuquerque on September 19th.

Omar Reyes rode Kateillac for owner/trainer Jose Aguilera. Mike Vaughn bred the multiple graded stakes-placed daughter of Furyofthewind in Oklahoma from the Royal Quick Dash mare Wilddate. The gray filly earned $5,500 for the effort.

Design Tobe A Winner, This Candys Awesome, This Candys Salty, One Famous Swinger, Kerrys Wave This Lady Is On Fire and NCC Firefly completed the official order of finish.
