Three Olives N Smoke Sets Top Mile High Futurity Trial Time - Correction

AURORA, CO—JULY 30, 2015—Coming off his second futurity win in 60 days, Three Olives N Smoke drew clear under jockey Stormy Smith to win the second of six trials Thursday afternoon for the Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park. The geldings :19.889 clocking, a 91 speed index with an 8 mph cross wind, set the bar for the 48 two-year-olds participating.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Arapahoe Park on Sunday, August 16 and vie for the winner's share of a $203,000 purse going 400 yards.

Trainer John Hammes saddled the Jess Louisiana Blue 2-year-old to his fifth consecutive win (in six starts) for owner Margo Schares and Bred Thomas. Bred by Schares, from the Corona Cartel mare Smokin Corona, Three Olives N Smoke won the Cherry Creek Futurity on June 7, then returned to win the Rocky Mountain Futurity on July 12. He has banked $106,324 this season with all of his wins have come over the Arapahoe Park racing surface. He was a close second in his career debut, a maiden race at Remington Park in April.

Shipping from Oklahoma, Lets Get On Board broke his maiden in the fifth trial when he drew off handily by 2¾ lengths under jockey Daniel Torres to record the second fastest time of :19.933. Trainer Jonathan Chavira saddled the stakes-placed son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner Georgina Chavira and Rito Sosa.

The stakes-tested gelding, out of Let Me Upgrade by This Snow Is Royal, finished third in the Laico Bird Stakes at Remington Park in April and was also a finalist in the Oklahoma Futurity(G3) and FL Lady Bug Stakes. Thomas Bradbury is the breeder.

Kasey Willis saddled L.P Franks Byb Byefreighttrain to his second career win in the fourth trial. The daughter of leading first-crop sire Freighttrain B defeated Swingit Lika Man by a head to post the third fastest time of :19.973 seconds.

Cesar Gomez rode the Oklahoma homebred from the Takin On The Cash mare Bye Bye Bygones. With a (4) 2-2-0 record this season the sorrel gelding has earned $15,424.

Swingit Lika Man held on to the fourth fastest time of :19.995 seconds. Coming off a maiden win in his only start on June 20 at Arapahoe, the Tac It Like A Man colt is owned by Santos Lopez and trained by Miguel Pena. Russell Vicchrilli had the riding assignment. Bird Ranch bred Swingit Likea Man in Oklahoma from the Corona Cartel mare Swingin Cartel.

Also qualifying from the heat was Cf Humbuckin , a colt by first crop sire Givinitaroyaleffort. Oscar Nunez trains the 2-year-old for owner Robert Mashburn. Omar Reyes was aboard the Carver Farms, LLC Oklahoma-bred. He is out of the Shazoom mare Ohares Secret.

First time starter Bachichanator was bumped early but recovered under jockey Rodolfo Arvizu to defeat Abeachindynasty and Streakin Pr by a neck in the final trial while getting the sixth fastest clocking of :20.142 seconds.

Gustavo Rios trains Utah-bred son of Carters Cartel for owner Jose Nieto. Craig Giles Racing, LLC bred the bay gelding from the Thoroughbred mare Nine To Midnight, by Marquetry.

Abeachindyansty, by FDD Dynasty, and Streakin Pr, by Corona Cartel, dead-heated for second while qualifying with the eighth fastest time.
