Brooks Runaway Breaks Maiden, Sets Top Time in Wyoming Downs Futurity Trials

EVANSTON, WY—JULY 26, 2015—Brooks Runaway scored her first career win Sunday when she defeated Lacey Js Little Sis by a nose in the fourth of six trials at Wyoming Downs. The pair posted the top two qualifying marks for the Wyoming Downs Futurity.

The 10 fastest two-year-olds, from the 51 head who competed in Sunday's trail races, will return to Wyoming Downs on Sunday, August 9 and vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse going 350 yards.

A homebred for A & C Racing and Roping, Brooks Runaway was the first of two qualifiers for the Utah based horsemen. Chancy Spencer saddled with Tyson Lusk rode the filly to the fastest time of :17.640 seconds, a 103-speed index with a 3 mph tailwind.

The lightly raced daughter of Brookstone Bay, out of A Fast Runaway by Make It Anywhere, was a finalist in the Dixie Downs Futurity last April. She has a (5) 1-0-2 record.

Also lightly raced Lacey Js Little Sis held on for the second fastest qualifying time of :17.652 seconds, also a 103-speed index. Ron Moosman conditions the Carters Cartel filly for owner/breeder Sam Allie. Bred in Oklahoma, from the Streakin La Jolla mare Lacey Jn Me, Js Little Sis was ridden by jockey Uriel Dominguez. Her record stands at (4) 1-3-0. The brown filly entered the race off a second place finish in the Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational on July 4 at Les Bois Park.

A & C Racing and Roping got their second finalist when Winners Blackgold won the fifth trial by half-a-length in the fourth fastest time of :17.850 seconds. Also trained by Spencer and ridden by Lusk, the son of multiple stakes sire Winners Version is out of Blackgold Playgirl, by Genuine Strawfly. It was third consecutive win in four starts this season for Winners Blackgold. He has earned nearly $19,500.
