Tres Friends Tops The Five Qualifiers On First Day of Rainbow Futurity Trials

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 3, 2015—Terry Stennett’s Tres Friends is figuring out this racing thing and with a tailwind led the qualifiers on the first day of trials to the Grade 1, $1 million Rainbow Futurity on Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The horses from the five-fastest times from Friday’s 16 400-yard trials will join the horses with the top-five times on Saturday’s 16 trials in the Rainbow Futurity on July 19.

Saturday’s first post time is noon.

Tres Friends ran an impressive race while winning by one-half length in :19.556 to win his maiden in his second start. He was fourth in his only start, his Ruidoso Futurity trial.

“He is figuring things out,” said trainer Blane Wood. “He is coming to where we wanted him to come at the right time. We’ve liked him all along.”

A son of Tres Seis and Lotta Love For Robyn, a qualifier to the All American Futurity and the All American Derby, Tres Friends was in the lucky 13th trial. There was a 15 mile-per-hour tailwind in the trial and third-fastest qualifier A Tres Of Paint and fourth-fastest qualifier Like A Gift also came out that trial.
