Favorite Kiss Delivers The First :12 Flat California Work Of The Season

LOS ALAMITOS, CA— MARCH 28, 2015—Howard Nichols’ Favorite Kiss was impressive once again during morning gate workouts, as the Favorite Cartel filly posted the first :12.0 clocking of the season on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Working from the outside post, Favorite Kiss looked tremendous in the 220-yard drill, which was her second work after recording a solid time of :12.3 on March 14. Trained by Paul Jones, Favorite Kiss is out of The Goodbye Kisser, the runner-up in the 2011 Los Alamitos Winter and the winner of the 2010 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and John Deere California Juvenile Challenge.

Trained by Felix Gonzalez, Bookish posted the second fastest workout on Saturday after the Walk Thru Fire colt covered the 220 yards in :12.1 from the outside post. Bookish is out of Callan Rocks, an All American Derby finalist and a half sister to 2004 All American Futurity and Rainbow Futurity finalist Corona Ease.

The Paul Jones-trained Much Better Reason was among the juveniles that posted a :12.2 clocking on Saturday morning. A colt by Good Reason SA, Much Better Reason is a half-brother to 2010 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner One Quick First Down. Trained by Charles Treece, the Walk Thru Fire gelding Hot Thot delivered a sharp :12.2 while working from the inside post. Linda Cannon’s Hot Thot is a half brother to Thinking Jazz, a 2009 Golden State Million Futurity and Governor’s Cup Futurity finalist.

John and Cina Sperry’s Tempting Diva covered the 220 yards in :12.3 while working alongside Favorite Kiss on Saturday. Sired by Tempting Dash, Tempting Diva is out of The Long Straw, the mother of 2012 Kindergarten Futurity runner-up The Cartel Straw. Romanticist, Mr PYC To You, Sochi 14, and Flashy Big also recorded :12.3 clockings.

Ed Allred’s Hearts Delight worked in :12.4, but her breeding lines make her one to watch. Trained by Scott Willoughby, Hearts Delight is by Corona Cartel and out the champion Higher Fire, who produced 2014 Los Alamitos Super Derby runner-up and two-time major futurity finalist Highest Fire.

Morning gate works for 2-year-olds continue at Los Alamitos on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday basis. Workout videos are posted online at losalamitos.com.
