The Star Alert, Spit Curl Daisy, Sweet N Salty Prevail in Bevy of Undercard Stakes

HIALEAH, FL—MARCH 1, 2015—Hialeah Park's closing weekend featured a heavily weighted stakes card on Sunday. Three of the feature black-type events were the final legs of the Hialeah Park Sprint and Distance Series and the Lucky Loser Stakes.

The Star Alert Returns in Final Distance Stakes

It was a repeat performance when 1-2-3 finishers in the Keys West Stakes on February 8, returned to take the same order of finish in the $42,000 Sailfish Stakes, the final leg of the Hialeah Park Distance Series, Sunday afternoon.

The Star Alert was much the best under jockey Yodanis Amaro as the 9-year-old galloped to an impressive 6¼ length win over I Beat The Feet. Steel Together finished 3 ½ lengths in front of Steel Together for second place. The Beat The Feet (TB) gelding completed the 1,000 yards in :52.494 seconds, a 98 speed index, with a 12 mph crosswind.

Ricardo Martinez saddled the The Star Alert for owner Roman Correa. Three races back he was second for a $10,000 tag at Prairie Meadows last October. Bred in Oklahoma by Hershel Cole, from the Raise The Gamble mare Lil Gamble Star, The Star Alert has compiled a (49) 9-6-4 record. The $25,200 Key West winner's purse boosted his career total to past $126,120.

I Beat The Feet, a Missouri-bred daughter of the same stallion Beat The Feet (TB finished second off the inside rail for owner Snowball Racing and trainer Ron David. Bred by Donald O'Brien from the Bedouin Prince mare Bessie Princess, I Beat The Feat earned $8,400 to boost her earnings to $71,981. Oscar Delgado had the riding assignment.

Steel Together, who pressed the pace under jockey Donell Blake settled for third place. Michel Arrieta trains the 7-year-old Call Me Together gelding for Enrique Arrieta. Shane Gould bred the bay in Louisiana from the Osceola Warrior mare Lafastchick. The $4,620 show earnings pushed his career total over the one-hundred grand mark to $113,292.

Slinky Red, Reds Casino, Lia Me Blue, Eyeontheline and Texas Vision completed the field.

Spit Curl Daisy Easy Winner in Lucky Loser Stakes

Spit Curl Daisy, owned-and-trained by Jesus Gonzalez, Jr., broke sharp and cleared the field early under jockey Raul Gutierrez to win the $23,000 Lucky Loser Stakes by one-length over Hes Too Icy For Me. Victorious Shake Em finished three-quarters back in third.

A 4-year-old daughter of leading sire Spit Curl Jess, Spit Curl Daisy completed the 300 yards in a quick :15.303 seconds to earn a 99 speed index. The $13,800 winner's purse boosted career total $5,488 with a (10) 4-1-1 record. Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred Spit Curl Daisy from the Corona Cartel mare First Prize Corona.

Hes Too Icy For Me, winner of the 2010 Rainbow Futurity(G1), earned $13,500 for owner/trainer Ricardo Martinez. The son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash earned $4,600 to boost his career total to $388,652. Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC and D M Cattle Co bred the 7-year-old in California. Manuel Gutierrez was riding.

Victorious Shake Em races for owner Ignacio Garduno Soto and trainer Adrian Soto. Bred in Texas by RMV Family Limited Partnership, the Royal Shake Em 6-year-old was ridden by Dale Beaty. Out of the This Snow Is Royal mare Confident Of Victory, Victorious Shake Em earned $2,530 for his effort.

Guvna Perry, Eyes Your Date, Lindsayshadowdancer, Apollitical Lady, Get Carter, First Prize Boston and Bigtime Warrior completed the field.

Sweet N Salty Rallies in Beautiful Prairie Stakes

Wade Helton's Stoli filly Sweet N Salty rallied to get up by half-a-length over Scream N Eagle and Sting Like A Viper in the $22,500 Beautiful Prairie Stakes, the final leg of the Hialeah Park Sprint Series Sunday afternoon.

Ramon Sanchez had the riding call aboard Sweet N Salty for trainer Rolando Almanza. The Texas-bred filly completed the 250 yards in :13.148, a 96 speed index. It was the fourth win in 16 starts for Sweet N Salty and the $13,500 winner's purse brings her career earnings total to $56,409. Bradley Hale bred her from the Corona Cartel mare Cosmic Corona.

The photo-finish camera could not separate Scream N Eagle and Sting Like A Viper who tied for second and earned $3,487 each for their efforts.

Scream N Eagle is a stakes inning son of leading sire One Famous Eagle from the Chicks Beduino mare Linda Te Chick. Jesus Garrido trains the 5-year-old for owner Triumph Stables, Inc. Ridden by Gerardo Garrido, Scream N Eagle was bred in Louisiana by Grant Farms, Inc.

Double J. Racing Stables, Inc. owns Sting Like A Viper, a Brookstone Bay filly from the Royal Quick Dash mare Royall Streak. Raul Gutierrez had the riding assignment from trainer Yordan Sardinas. Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm, LLC is the breeder.

Miss Jp Washer, Dreamnwideopen, Eye Agree, Sin Tachas Angel, Miss Southern Dd and Jess A Corona completed the field.
