INDIANAPOLIS, IN—SEPTEMBER 17, 2019—Streakin James, a colt by multiple stake sire Ivory James, topped the 2019 QHRAI Speed Sale on Sunday at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
The 9th annual sale reported 23 of the 42 mixed horses offered sold for gross receipts of $232,500, an average of $10,109. The median price was $5,700.
Gerald Keesling paid $37,000 for the high-seller, Hip #7 Streakin James from the consignment of Brian Gunder, Deane and Jane (Buddy) Lehman. The yearling gelding is out of the RG2 finalist Rumba Casino by Streakin La Jolla. The second dam is the Grade 3 winner Go Street Music, a multiple stakes producer.

The third high-seller was Hip 41 Beach Blast, also a son of Escondido Beach. Keith Bode and Brock Hutchinson paid $22,000 for the brother to stakes hoses Beach Mercedes, Beach Birde and Beach Denali. Miller Ranch consigned the sorrel gelding out of Jaguar Rocket Stakes winner Jess Alive Bully by Feature Mr Jess.
Gerald Keesling was the sale's leading buyer with the one purchase for $37,000. Michael Taylor had two for $31,000 and Pamela Hann had the one yearling for $26,500.
Miller Ranch was the leading consignor or agent with seven head grossing $112,000. Brian L. Gunder sold five for $60,900 and Mark Michel had one for $19,500.
Escondido Beach was the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with seven head averaging $15,514. Brimmstone had three yearlings average $5,400.
